Metabolic conditioning or “METCON” for short is a short bouts of higher-intensity training designed to increase metabolic demand and increase energy usage.
Typically METCON follows either a HIIT (high-intensity interval training) format with short periods of intense exercise followed by similar length at a lower intensity, or circuit training with various exercises performed back to back. At Body Revival, we predominantly use barbell, dumbbell, kettlebell, plyo box and bands in our METCON program.
METCON sessions run as a 450-minute session where participants will be asked to arrive early and perform their own warm up (provided by Body Revival and written on the white board) before the start of a session. The bulk of the workout is usually in between 33 and 36 minutes. The remainder of the time is use for explanation and demonstration, change of weight/station set up, packing up, stretch and News and Promo delivery.
